Here are of the most well-known prophecy leading to the birth of Jesus — with a twist!  We know it was prophesied that He would be born of a virgin.  Read on to find out why…

Born of the Seed of Woman:

Gen 3:15

15 And I will put enmity

between you and the woman,

and between your offspring [1] and hers;

he will crush [2] your head,

and you will strike his heel.”

Born of a Virgin:

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Son of God:

Psalm 2:

I will proclaim the decree of the LORD :

He said to me, “You are my Son;

today I have become your Father.

Seed of Abraham:

Genesis 22:18

and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

Son of Isaac:

Genesis 21:12

But God said to him, “Do not be so distressed about the boy and your maidservant. Listen to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.

Son of Jacob:

Gen 35:10-11, Numbers 24:17

God said to him, “Your name is Jacob,  but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.  ” So he named him Israel.

 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty  ; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body.

Tribe of Judah:

Genesis 49:10

The scepter will not depart from Judah,

nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,

until he comes to whom it belongs

and the obedience of the nations is his.

Family line of Jesse:

Isaiah 11:1

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;

from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

House of David:

Jeremiah 23:5

“The days are coming,” declares the LORD ,

“when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch,

a King who will reign wisely

and do what is just and right in the land.

King:

Psalm 2:6

“I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill.”

But what about the curse?

Jeremiah 22:28-30

Is this man Jehoiachin a despised, broken pot,

an object no one wants?

Why will he and his children be hurled out,

cast into a land they do not know?

O land, land, land,

hear the word of the LORD !

This is what the LORD says:

“Record this man as if childless,

a man who will not prosper in his lifetime,

for none of his offspring will prosper,

none will sit on the throne of David

or rule anymore in Judah.”

That last one doesn’t sound good!  Read about the curse here…
